Olympic Lifting Variations for Golfers

Here’s some variations/derivatives of the Olympic Lifts (Clean and Jerk and Snatch) you might want to try as a golfer. They will minimise the stress on the shoulders, wrists, elbows and low back (common injured areas for golfers), whilst achieving training benefits of strength, power, flexibility, co-ordination and balance. Some are also much easier and quicker to teach compared to the full Clean and Jerk and Snatch exercises.

  • Drop Snatch and Snatch Balance (particularly the drop snatch is a good warm up exercises for mobility, activation and potentiation; MAP Warm Up)
  • Clean Pull and High Pulls (Snatch and Clean grips)
  • Clean Grip Snatch
  • Clean and Jerk and Snatch with a Dowel or PVC pipe or empty bar
  • Db Hang Snatch
